A Message from the President
Dear Fellow Serrans,
It has truly been an honor for me to serve as your President for the last year. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have worked with so many of you and to have gotten to know you better. I am also grateful to all of the board members for their leadership, dedication, and passion focusing on our Mission - the support, encouragement and promotion of religious vocations. We could have not accomplished all that our Club has in the past year without the time and talent of so many of you, reflecting a strong and active Serra Club!
At our June 23rd Club meeting, we will welcome our next Club President, Michele Pohlman, and our new President - Elect and Vice President of Programs, Mary Feda, into their new leadership roles. I am confident they will continue to have a positive impact on our Club, a club that has seen a strong increase in membership and consistently high attendance at our club meetings!
When our officers are installed on June 23rd at our Club meeting, your attendance will give you the opportunity to congratulate and recognize the newly installed officers. It is important that all board members, including our newest board member, Michala Jacobson, our next Vice President of Membership, be supported for the giving of their time and efforts to make our Club truly one that we can continue to be proud of.
Rich Cupich will again have a short “Year in Review” video prepared for presentation at this meeting. Your attendance will signal your support of our 2025/2026 officers and wishes for their the best. I’m looking forward to seeing you there!
Important Upcoming Events
Omaha Archdiocesan
Priesthood Ordination
The Archdiocese of Omaha Priesthood Ordination will take place on Saturday, June 7th at 10:00 am at St. Cecilia Cathedral. Three seminarians from the diocese will be ordained: Logan Hepp, Brian Hula and Will Targy. The event is open to everyone, and the Serra Club of Omaha will be there to greet attendees and help at the reception in the Cathedral Cultural Arts Center immediately following the Ordination Mass. Look for a recap of this exciting event in the next edition of the Mission Bell.
Serra Golf, Tennis,
and Pickleball Outing
The Serra Clubs of Omaha and West Omaha will be hosting their Annual Golf, Tennis and Pickleball Outing and Dinner at the Pines Country Club next Monday, June 9th.
All plans are in place with over 40 priests as well as the many Serrans and other guests who have signed up!
All proceeds go to support vocation efforts in the Archdiocese.
Thanks to Chairman Joe Grier and his committee for all of their work for this event!

New Officer Installation
District Governor, Sally O'Neill, PhD, will install the 2025-2026 Club Officers at our regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, June 23rd.
Dr. Sally O’Neill is currently the Serra District Governor of Nebraska. She served as President of the Serra Club of Omaha from 2019-2024. She also served as Vice President of Programs and was involved in Serra at the local level as well as the International Level.
Locally she has participated in a variety of activities, co-chaired regional meetings, and represented our Club at various Club functions such as the Delegate at Serra International meetings. Internationally she served on the Serra International Nomination Committee.
Previously, she was employed by Creighton University for 32 years starting as an Associate Dean in the Medical School and then becoming Associate Vice Provost of the Health Sciences. She was a member and Board member of several professional organizations.
She and her husband Tim are members of the Christ the King Church where they
are EMHC’s and she was a past-president of their Board of Education for 10 years. They also serve as chairs of the Christ the King Vocation Committee. They have two sons, Connor and Collin, three grandchildren, and one grand dog

Virtus et Veritas (V2) Ministries
Toby Korensky and Jeb Vavak shared the inspiring mission of Virtus et Veritas (V2) Ministries, founded in 2015, a Catholic apostolate that works in conjunction with the Archdiocese of Omaha but is an independent nonprofit. In a culture that often downplays virtue and questions the very concept of truth, V2 Ministries equips young men to become virtuous leaders through outdoor adventure, summer camp, mentorship, and deep faith formation. Their latest program, Esto Vir (“Be a Man”), invites middle school young men into a journey of authentic masculinity rooted in
Christ. The ministry emphasizes character, humility, courage, and spiritual brotherhood—offering a powerful counter to the confusion of today’s world. Learn more about their programs and mission at v2ministries.org.

Welcome to Omaha,
Archbishop Michael McGovern
Then Bishop Michael McGovern, of Belleville, knocks on the door of St. Cecilia Cathedral requesting to be allowed in by then Archbishop George Lucas.
Archbishop McGovern displays the Apostolic Letter sent on March 31st from Pope Francis to all present for the ceremony. The document states he has permission to become Omaha's new leader.
Newly installed Archbishop Michael McGovern is greeted by the priests and dignitaries of his Archdiocese on the steps of Omaha's Cathedral.
On May 7th, inside a packed cathedral filled with hymns of praise, Bishop Michael McGovern became the sixth Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Omaha!
According to the Catholic Voice, an estimated 1,000 people were on hand for this historic Installation Mass at St. Cecilia Cathedral, including nearly 30 bishops and archbishops, hundreds of priests, laity from across northeast Nebraska, several civic leaders, and about 40 of Archbishop McGovern’s family and friends.
Many thousands more watched the live stream telecasting of the Mass, including those who gathered at their parishes to watch together.
The Serra Club of Omaha sent a message of welcome to Archbishop McGovern which was printed in the program for the installation event. The message read as follows:
"Our members look forward to partnering with you in encouraging and supporting vocations to the Priesthood and consecrated religious life in our Archdiocese.
In the spirit of your motto and our Lord's words to His disciples, 'Vos Autem Dixi Amicos' ('I have called you friends'), we look forward to serving you in the fellowship of discipleship."
Adopt a Seminarian Program

One of our club's most impactful programs is our Adopt a Seminarian Program. It is our avenue to develop a spiritual bond between our club members and our seminarians. Through this project, we create a personal connection with our seminarians and let them know we are thinking of them, praying for their success, and supporting them. These relationships can last well into their Priestly journey.
Over the summer season, the Archdiocese brings on new seminarians and ordain our deacon seminarians. As we assess these changes, we will update our lists and communicate new opportunities to those who have been supporting our recently ordained individuals, while also introducing our new seminarians who need new Serrans to help them through their seminarian years in formation.
We will be updating our club on the changes and providing you the opportunity to update your information and commitment to our program and seminarians.

Thank you, everyone, for a wonderful two years of working with you, your guests and new members. It has been fun getting to know you.
